Lucie Yi Is Not a Romantic

Lucie Yi was not a romantic. She never believed in fairy tales, love at first sight, or

grand gestures. Her life was practical, pragmatic, and devoid of the frivolities of

romance. She worked as a software engineer, spending most of her days buried in

lines of code, finding solace in the logical order of algorithms. Love was a foreign

concept to her, something she regarded with skepticism and disdain.

But life has a funny way of surprising even the most skeptical of hearts.

It all began on a mundane Tuesday morning. Lucie sat in her usual corner of the

coffee shop, her laptop open, and a steaming cup of black coffee by her side. She

was engrossed in her work, oblivious to the world around her until a gentle voice

 interrupted her thoughts.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?"

Lucie looked up to find a man standing before her, a hesitant smile playing on his

lips. He had warm brown eyes and a kind face, and for a moment, Lucie felt a

strange flutter in her chest. She quickly dismissed it, pushing the unfamiliar

 sensation aside.

"No, it's not taken," she replied curtly, gesturing to the empty chair across from her.

The man nodded gratefully and took a seat, introducing himself as Alex. Lucie

acknowledged him with a nod before returning her attention to her work. But try

as she might, she couldn't shake the feeling of his presence beside her.

Over the next few weeks, Alex became a regular fixture in Lucie's life. He would

often join her at the coffee shop, striking up conversations about everything from

books to technology. Despite her initial reluctance, Lucie found herself enjoying

his company, relishing the moments of lightness he brought into her structured

 world.

One evening, as they sat across from each other, sipping their drinks in comfortable

silence, Alex cleared his throat nervously.

"Lucie, there's something I've been meaning to tell you," he began, his eyes fixed on

 hers.

Lucie raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. "What is it?"

Alex took a deep breath, gathering his courage. "I... I think I'm falling for you."

Lucie froze, her heart skipping a beat at his confession. She had never been in this

situation before, never faced with someone professing their feelings for her. Panic

surged through her veins, and she searched for the right words to say, the logical

 response to his illogical declaration.

But before she could form a coherent sentence, Alex reached across the table and

took her hand in his. His touch was warm and gentle, sending shivers down her

 spine.

"I know you're not a romantic, Lucie," he said softly, his voice barely above a

whisper. "But neither am I. I just know that when I'm with you, everything feels

right. And I don't want to let that go."

Lucie felt her defenses crumbling, the walls she had built around her heart starting

to crack. In that moment, she realized that maybe, just maybe, love wasn't as

irrational as she had always believed.

Without a word, she leaned forward and pressed her lips to his, a silent admission

of the feelings she had been too afraid to acknowledge. And in that simple gesture,

she found a new beginning, a love that defied all her logical reasoning.

From that day forward, Lucie Yi was no longer just a practical software engineer.

She was a woman in love, embracing the beauty of the unexpected, and learning

that sometimes, the most profound truths are found in the most unlikely of places.
